Founders Andrew & Dustin grew up going to beaches near their hometown in Grand Haven and Holland, Michigan. They also had cottages up north near Charlevoix, MI that fueled their inspiration for the unsalted lifestyle. Nearly every spring break they spent their time in Florida which eventually inspired the idea to launch the salted lifestyle apparel line.
In the winter of 2011, Andrew and Dustin got accepted into a college program near Orlando, Florida. This gave them the ability to easily travel coast to coast around the Florida peninsula every chance they could. The founders went to the beach so often that they would leave post-it notes for their roommates that said: “Gone Beachin”.
The founders met in early spring to brainstorm the idea about launching a brand inspired by their experiences along the shoreline. On June 7 of 2013, Gone Beachin launched in Michigan.
Gone Beachin competes in Central Michigan University’s New Venture Competition and CMU’s Shark Tank. During the pitch, Andrew announces Gone Beachin Salted and Unsalted apparel lines dedicated to the salted lifestyle and the unsalted lifestyle. The founders win prize money for working capital and screen printing equipment.
Founders get their line in the first few stores and travel to shows along the coast.
The brand’s apparel lines are picked up by surf shops, boutiques, and retail stores along the shoreline.
Andrew, Dustin, and Max team up to print apparel and merchandise in-house. After months of hard work, the Gone Beachin print shop opens in West Michigan.
The ambassador program becomes Beachin Tribe which includes passionate beach loving influencers from around the world that represent the Gone Beachin brand.
Gone Beachin enhances their Beachin Tribe program by focusing their efforts on helping beach communities in need.
Andrew and Sierra teamed up to grow the Gone Beachin mission to help beach communities in need. We’re partnering with organizations around the world with missions that align with ours and collaborating with unique designs tailored to their organization. For every sale that comes in, a portion of the sale is donated directly to the organization.
We launched Gone Beachin Fundraising for individuals and organizations to raise funds for personal needs or a cause they are passionate about.
We created Beach Buzz which is a brand new viral content news feed for the beach community and non-profit partners to connect with each other all in one place.
We have completely rebuilt the Gone Beachin Tribe to make the ambassador, affiliate, artist, and advertiser platform more interactive while providing commissions, rewards, and online platforms to connect the beach community and help Gone Beachin members enhance their online presence.
